Implement a /LFG function into PvE/PvP
I think all of us who have played through PvE and PvP have gotten used to the idea of how much text spamming players need to do in order to find a group. This goes without just blindly inviting themselves to every group that's in the progress of being created too.
Many people including myself have played other MMOs like EQ, etc and most of us probably remember that LFG function (the old and the newer one that came with LDoN) that allowed people to set a flag to their name to signify that they're Looking For a Group. The LDoN /LFG feature even allowed you to be LFG for any zone in the game while at the same time allowed groups to set up flags to look for players to fill certain roles (healer, tank, etc.) I don't remember how popular it was since I played on Rallos Zek but if they implemented something similar to this for an area-by-area basis it would sure make things much easier.
Right now, it seems the best you can do in Guild Wars is spend ten minutes in Tombs going "B/P Ranger LFG!" in order for someone who is less than you to form a cohesive group.
What I suggest A-net should do:- Allow players to flag themselves with /LFG to notify others they're well.. Looking for a group.
- Implement a system that collects the names of the people who have their LFG tag set and display their level and class information. This would be involved with the process described in the next bullet.
- Also implement further implement into that a system for which groups can set up a notice that allows players to fill spots that they're needed. The information displayed would be something like setting filters for the Primary/Secondary classes wanted (if any) and maybe a small note of what the group plans to do (This would be useful in PvP and PvE since you always have too much of a certain class spamming in General Chat.)
I don't know if any of you feel the same, but it's something frustrating to get groups quickly when you have to sit there and wait for a certain class to finish the group. Think of how most groups are always in need of monks. While you wait for another monk to finish the group you get all these random invites from players who don't even aren't even monks. Hell, I even had some newbies that intentionally spam self-invites if you don't accept them. :]
Anyways, this is long-winded but I hope some of you would suggest any other ideas in improving the way players are allowed to organize the groups. This same idea can be applied to the trade channel and the insanely annoying amounts of spam that floods over to general chat because of the lack of any sort of auction house or trade market.
Edit: AJ has had this idea before, but once again that thread is somewhat dead
